American Petro-Hunter Updates Preparations for Oil Production at Rooney Project -- Company Adds Additional Acreage to Holdings
SCOTTSDALE, AZ, Jan 04, 2010 -- American Petro-Hunter, Inc. (OTCBB: AAPH) ("American Petro-Hunter" or the "Company") today announced that site preparations at the #24-1 Double H well are nearing completion in readiness for the commencement of full scale commercial oil and gas production at the Kansas based Rooney Project.
Surface facilities will be complete following this week's delivery of the 600 barrel tank battery thereby ensuring the well will go on pump January 9th at an anticipated rate of 200 barrels per day. The pump-jack, electrical supply and all onsite oil and gas lines have been installed. The natural gas line requires a 3/8th mile tie-in to a nearby commercial pipeline and is slated to be completed shortly.
The Company is also pleased to report that an additional 3 sections of land totaling 1,920 acres have been leased increasing the current Rooney Project land position to over 7,000 acres. With plans to drill 10 wells in the upcoming year at the rate of one new well every month, the added acreage could result in the identification and development of further well locations subject to additional seismic research.
As previously reported, a review of the Rooney engineering and seismic data has indicated that this newly discovered oil and gas reservoir has a potential aerial extent exceeding the acreage of existing nearby oil fields in the area that have produced in excess of 2.5 million barrels of oil. If the Company is successful in its initial 10 well drill program and should the entire seismically indicated target prove productive, Rooney could mature into a full field development project offering a recovery scenario in excess of 3 million barrels of oil based on this comparative analogy.
About the Rooney Project: The Rooney Project is located in southwestern Ford County, Kansas 20 miles due south of Dodge City and totals 7,040 acres adjacent to the north edge of existing Morrow Sand oil and gas production. The initial discovery well, #24-1 Double H is anticipated to begin production at rates over 200 barrels per day. After a review of the 3D seismic data in conjunction with the electronic logs, the potential barrels of oil associated well and oil pool is currently estimated at 500,000 barrels. The Company and partners have developed a minimum of 10 target locations to drill that could enable the Company to add 8 additional wells to its portfolio by the end of the third quarter of 2010. New Energy Achieves Major 'Transparency' Breakthrough in Development of See-Thru Windows Capable of Generating Electricity
Researchers replace 'visibility-blocking' metal with transparent, environmentally-friendly compounds which collect electricity generated on the Company's SolarWindow(TM), currently under development.
BURTONSVILLE, Md., Jan 04, 2010 -- New Energy Technologies, Inc. (OTCBB: NENE), currently developing MotionPower(TM) technologies for generating electricity from the kinetic energy of moving vehicles and SolarWindow(TM) technologies capable of generating electricity on glass windows, today announced that researchers have overcome a significant scientific hurdle in creating the first-of-its-kind see-thru solar glass by replacing a visibility-blocking solid metal component with environmentally-friendly, non-metallic, transparent compounds.
"Metal materials block visibility, and are arguably the most important hindrance to developing a commercially viable solar glass window product," explained Mr. Meetesh V. Patel, President and CEO of New Energy Technologies, Inc. "We have successfully replaced the metal contact component in our SolarWindow(TM) with non-metallic compounds, and in so doing, achieved significantly greater transparency, a key factor in advancing our technology along the commercial product development path. The importance of this breakthrough cannot be overstated." To-date, one of the biggest obstacles faced by researchers developing New Energy's SolarWindow(TM) technology has been the presence of metal, an opaque material which blocks all visibility and prevents light from passing through glass. Eliminating metal has proved especially challenging since the metal component acts as the negative 'polar contact' -- an important function in collecting the electricity generated from solar cells on the surface of the glass.
Today's breakthrough replaces this visibility-blocking metal with environmentally-friendly and more transparent compounds. These compounds now function as the negative polar contact and collect electricity from New Energy's SolarWindow(TM).
The production of solar-generated electricity on glass is made possible by the world's tiniest working solar cells, which have been successfully applied on to glass surfaces by researchers currently developing the Company's transparent SolarWindow(TM) technology.
These ultra-small solar cells measure less than 1/4 the size of a grain of rice, are fabricated using environmentally-friendly materials, and successfully produce electricity, as demonstrated in a published peer-reviewed study in the Journal of Renewable and Sustainable Energy of the American Institute of Physics.
Unique performance properties of New Energy's ultra-small solar cells enable development of an ultra-thin film, only 1/1000th the thickness of a human hair, or 1/10th of a micrometer. In contrast, conventional thin films are exponentially thicker, measuring several micrometers thick and inhibiting transparency. In photovoltaic applications such as see-thru windows, where transparency is a primary concern, today's thin film solar cells simply cannot be utilized to produce a transparent solar window for application in homes, offices, and commercial buildings.
There are nearly 5 million commercial buildings in America, according to the Energy Information Administration, and more than 80 million single detached homes. New Energy's SolarWindow(TM) technology is under developed for commercial application in such buildings.

Applied Nanotech Holdings, Inc. Announces R&D and License Agreement With Prominent Sporting Goods Manufacturer AUSTIN, TX, Jan 04, 2010 -- Applied Nanotech Holdings, Inc. (OTCBB: APNT) announced that it has entered into a License and Research and Development agreement related to its carbon nanotube composite technology (epoxy/CNT) with a prominent sporting goods manufacturer. This agreement follows the successful research & development project, which resulted in a license agreement for tennis and badminton racquets in October 2008, with the same manufacturer.
This purpose of this research agreement is to extend the previous license agreement by tailoring Applied Nanotech's patented epoxy/CNT nanocomposite technology for use in a specific new sporting goods application in order to further improve the product performance. Applied Nanotech has received $250,000 for the research portion of this agreement.
Upon successful completion of the project, the sporting goods manufacturer has an option to license the technology for certain predefined terms, including an initial license fee and ongoing royalty payments, on an exclusive basis in specific territories and on a nonexclusive basis worldwide. The project is expected to be concluded, and the initial license payment received, no later than November 30, 2010.
