Colocation America Offers IPv6 to ClientsColocation and dedicated server provider Colocation America announced its initiative to provide IPv6, a publicly used Internet protocol, for its clients, which will enhance their business operations. IPv6, the successor of the prevailing IPv4, was developed considering the rapid expansion of Internet. The difference between these two protocols is that an IPv4 is composed of 32 bits (4 bytes) while the new IPv6 address is 128 bits long (16 bytes). While the IPv4 address was portioned between network and host, the new IPv6 address has the host portion being derived from a MAC address. IPv6 simplifies routing and promises better security features. It is also easily compatible with mobile applications. Colocation America (News - Alert) finds that the operation of these new services and devices has quickly sped up with the adoption of this protocol by thriving and emerging economies. “By embracing IPv6 technology, we are doing a great service not only for ourselves but also for our fantastic customers,” said Micheal Trunkett, president of Colocation America, in a statement. “Our clients will be able to experience this new protocol which brings a higher performance rate and less latency. With many years of experience in operating and developing new technology, we are fully IPv6 ready,” Trunkett added. The Los Angeles-based Colocation America has two primary data centers in "One Wilshire" building (West Coast Hub) and 60 Hudson (East Coast Hub) in Los Angeles and in New York. In June, the company declared that it has 22 high-tech data centers in four states across the U.S., TMCnet reported. Company officials said its data center locations provide maximum scalability and connectivity to major fiber carriers and can connect to virtually any backbone provider. Most recently the company also announced a new full cabinet colocation special that offers an affordable way for organizations to run their servers in a reliable and well-connected environment. The new full cabinet colocation special offers the best value on the market to its clients and points out that a full rack can provide the best colocation hosting service possible, according to company officials.
