Telx Forges Alliance with Interxion to Extend Colocation Services
Telx, an interconnection and colocation provider in strategic North American markets, has entered into a strategic alliance with Interxion, a European provider of carrier-neutral colocation data center services. Officials with Telx said that the alliance will provide a smooth transatlantic migration path into industry-leading, connectivity-rich colocation facilities for both the company and Interxion (News - Alert) customers, with particular strategic benefits for customers in the financial services sector. Telx and Interxion host large Financial Services communities of interest in financial centers like Chicago, New York, London, Frankfurt, Stockholm and Zurich. "Telx's U.S.-based, multinational clients have global requirements, and many require a single source solution," said Eric Shepcaro (News - Alert), chief executive officer at Telx. Shepcaro said that by forging this strategic alliance with Interxion, the company can extend its solutions to include international data center options and a broader services mix that helps both U.S. and European businesses enter new markets quickly and cost-effectively. "Our alliance with Telx will provide a smooth path for Telx customers into Europe's leading consumer and business hubs and enable our European customers to tap into new business opportunities in the United States," said David Ruberg, chief executive officer at Interxion. Ruberg said that there is also a good strategic fit -- Telx's approach to colocation is similar to Interxion's, with a focus on providing connectivity-rich environments and adding value for customers by building segment-specific communities of interest. Recently Telx announced that it launched its enhanced Web-based customer portal, enabling colocation, interconnection, Internet exchange, dedicated Internet access and Ethernet exchange users to manage services and view highly-detailed inventories of their space, power, connectivity and bandwidth. The newly designed portal provides instant benefits to customers by simplifying operations, improving inventory management and providing access to an online marketplace to help fuel revenue growth. With these improved capabilities, customers can closely monitor their data center assets and react quickly to market requirements in an easy to use, on-line system.
