SunGard Enhances its Executive Leadership Team with New Appointments

SunGard Availability Services announced new appointments to its executive leadership team to fully support, develop and grow its services.

Andrew A. Stern, CEO of the company said in a statement, “Talent investment is a huge focus as we continue to grow our services and define new offerings in the marketplace. This includes leveraging and developing our team of outstanding staff while attracting energetic and talented individuals to SunGard.”

SunGard Availability Services is investing in existing staff trying to bring in more talent and experience to its team in order to expand its services portfolio to cater to the demands of evolving customer availability and cloud computing needs, sources say.

The new executives named for the leadership team include Michael Beck, Senior Vice President and General Manager Managed Services. Beck brings to the company 30 years of global experience in the design and delivery of IT infrastructure and applications services. He served as senior vice president, On Demand Global Delivery and Operations at Oracle (News - Alert) recently.

William T. Price will join SunGard as Senior Vice President and General Counsel. He comes with more than 23 years of corporate, legal and operating experience. He was senior vice president and assistant general counsel at AT&T (News - Alert), where he was responsible for Enterprise Sales Legal Team.

Executive Vice President and CFO Robert C. Singer joins SunGard with over 30 years of operating and capital markets financial experience. Recently he served as executive vice president and chief financial officer of Algeco Scotsman, a multinational provider of modular space solutions.

Commenting on the appointments Stern added, “Mike, Bob and Bill bring significant new capabilities to AS, and along with our existing employees will be instrumental in meeting our growth plans and advancing an inspired culture that aligns with our business objectives.

The new members will further enhance the company’s offerings like disaster recovery services, enterprise cloud services, managed IT services, information availability consulting services and business continuity management software, sources say.

According to officials, Patrick Doherty was appointed executive vice president, North American Sales and Marketing. He is a respected member of the executive team since 2003 and has held senior leadership roles in product management, strategy, building the Channels organization.

He also served as Chief Marketing Officer. He ensured that a tight linkage existed between sales and marketing in revenue development initiatives which will help the company serve customer needs better.

On the technology front, SunGard announced the extension of its Fame solution suite to help energy and commodities market participants control costs and enter new markets while meeting internal and external compliance requirements.
