AFORE Aids Extension of Virtualization between Long Distance Data Centers
AFORE Solutions reportedly has launched the first networking solution for extending virtualization between geographically distributed data centers. AFORE’s new Virtual Fiber and Virtual Wire capabilities are built upon the ASE3300 platform and enable the migration of Virtual Machines and storage across IP and Ethernet wide area networks. Using this technology, enterprises and cloud computing/disaster recovery service providers perform a number of tasks such as: establishing extended virtual data centers, creating new levels of availability and paving the way for advanced hosting and managed service offerings. Jonathan Reeves, AFORE’s chairman and chief strategy officer, said in a release that despite the high cost and limited availability of dark fiber, enterprises need to interconnect data centers within the enterprise or between their data centers and cloud service providers. AFORE's Virtual Fiber and Virtual Wire technology enables data centers to be extended across great distances and bandwidth to be re-allocated on demand to meet changing application requirements. AFORE provides innovative technology to the networking industry. Its solutions enable network equipment providers, service providers and enterprises to accelerate innovation and deployment of advanced networking applications. The company was in news last month for announcing its InterPort licensable software solution that supports Provider Backbone Bridges (PBB) and Provider Backbone Bridge Traffic Engineering (PBB-TE). AFORE’s new InterPort PBB/PBB-TE software solution contains a suite of software modules that offer a standard compliant (IEEE (News - Alert) 802.1ah, 802.1Qay) solution for carrier Ethernet, mobile backhaul, broadband access and aggregation, data center interconnect and other applications which leverage Ethernet as a transport technology.
