Fiber network has been expanded by Optical Communications Group or OCH into the new TELEHOUSE (News - Alert) New York Chelsea data center facility. An announcement in this regard has been made by a top provider of global dedicated data centers, international Internet exchanges, and managed IT services, TELEHOUSE America. OCG is a facilities-based provider of technologically advanced, high bandwidth fiber optic transmission capacity for communications carriers.

High capacity, reliable and high performance network services are offered by TELEHOUSE to both carriers and end-user clients. The TELEHOUSE Chelsea Center situated at 85 10th Avenue in Manhattan offers these services with benefits like low cross connect fees.

Networks in Long Island, New Jersey, and New York City's five boroughs are currently operated by OCG. Nearly one hundred percent of the approximately 500 miles of fiber laid by OCG are underground. Since 2006, OCG has also been located at TELEHOUSE's flagship facility at 7 Teleport Drive in Staten Island.

A franchise license was obtained by OCG in 2005 to build and operate network in the New York metro area. The first segment build out of its Long Island, Nassau and Suffolk counties was completed by the company in 2005 to serve the submarine landing stations.
