Optimum (News - Alert) Lightpath, a division of Cablevision Systems Corp., announced today the launch of their new Private Fiber Service being made available to businesses across the New York City metro area.
With up to 390 GB of total throughput, corporate enterprises can take advantage of having dedicated fiber without the need of owning or managing hardware. Customers are offered dedicated WDM equipment with 39 channels capable of accommodating a single 10 GB or eight 1 GB Ethernet connections, while one channel is utilized for monitoring.
Demand continues to grow for secure, dedicated, high bandwidth connections between data centers and most businesses display a big concern about undertaking such a large project. Julia McGrath, senior vice president of Marketing and Business Development at Optimum Lightpath (News - Alert), states that the Private Fiber Service will help ease the process.
“With Private Fiber Service, Optimum Lightpath is making the process of acquiring, lighting and managing dedicated fiber easier than ever. As a result, we can give more businesses access to private bandwidth that can scale as needed, helping them get where they want to go without taking on huge costs on maintenance headaches,” said McGrath.
The service pricing will vary depending on one's location and an optional flat rate for additional bandwidth is offered.
In other news from October 2011, Optimum Lightpath announced the availability of its next-generation Optimum Lightpath Hosted Voice. The cloud-based phone service is designed for mid-market and large businesses and offers an array of new features, including capabilities to keep mobile workforces seamlessly connected on the go. It is based on flat-rate pricing, requires little or no upfront costs and runs over Optimum Lightpath's 100 percent fiber network for high reliability.
