All electronic devices are generally subject to Electromagnetic interference (EMI) from external sources, if inadequately shielded or designed. It’s also called radio frequency interference (RFI (News - Alert)) when in high frequency or radio frequency.

These interferences may cause simple degradation of data, total loss of data or distortion of antenna patterns, and affect components and devices inter-connected by cable assemblies. In order to eliminate the effects of EMI, the industry makes use of EMI/RFi solutions such as chokes or stubs, and they can be pretty expensive.

In an effort to provide the industry with an EMI/RFI suppression solution that replaces 1/4 wave chokes, stubs and ferrite cores, The Venti Group has developed the first cost-effective open-ended RF suppression sleeve for frequencies in UHF to Microwave.

The Venti Group is a privately held company that develops, acquires, licenses and sells intellectual properties that are revolutionary in the Wireless & Technology World. Its portfolio includes horizontal antenna designs for WiFi (News - Alert) in medium- to high-end wireless devices, high-gain in-building and outdoor antennas and collinear arrays.

The new RF suppression sleeve developed by The Venti Group is a patent-pending RF sleeve, ideal for mass-produced coax and cables.

According to a press release, the R&D engineers at Venti discovered that the radiating coaxial feedlines distorted their antenna patterns while developing Horizontal WiFi antenna designs. Engineers therefore had to develop a more cost-effective solution, such as the new RF suppression sleeve, which could suppress radiating feed lines in 2.4 & 5 GHz.

A solution targeted to specific frequencies from 500MHz to 30GHz, the new Venti sleeve is a very low profile choke sleeve that may be simply and economically applied. It even eliminates the need for connection to the cable, and does not require the cable to be coaxial or shielded.

The new EMI/RFI Suppression sleeve for RF Coax/Cables for antennas, consumer electronics, computer and power cables, the new low-cost tuned Venti sleeve can be applied as mass produced conductive foil or conductive coating.

The new sleeve is effective at 2.4 and 5 GHz and all other frequencies above 1 GHz, according to company officials. This opens up a whole new world for product designers and engineers that were not previously available.
