Cyberoam Expands UTM Portfolio with 1GbE and 10 GbE Fiber Port Appliances
By Rajani Baburajan
Cyberoam (News - Alert), a provider of identity-based Unified Threat Management (UTM) appliances, announced the launch of new 1GbE and 10GbE fiber port UTM appliances for small and medium sized businesses (SMBs) and enterprises, respectively.
The new fiber port UTM appliances allow organizations to enjoy benefits offered by fiber connections including high reliability, low environment sensitivity and noise-free network connection.
Cyberoam identity-based UTM appliances are designed to offer comprehensive protection against existing and emerging Internet threats, including viruses, worms, Trojans, spyware, phishing, pharming and more. They provide stateful inspection firewall, VPN, gateway anti-virus, gateway anti-malware, gateway anti-spam, intrusion prevention system, content filtering, in addition to bandwidth management and multiple link management over a single platform.
According to company officials, the existing market does not offer fiber port connectivity option in its mid-range UTM appliances, so SMBs are not able to draw their benefits. Further, the 10GbE fiber ports are available only through carrier grade UTM appliances, so SMBs and enterprises end up spending more on higher-end UTM appliances to support their fiber connectivity.
“The addition of 1GbE and 10GbE fiber ports in Cyberoam’s mid-level appliances will now offer affordable network security over fiber port connectivity to SMBs,” said Abhilash Sonwane, senior vice president of product management, Cyberoam, in a statement. “While Cyberoam’s existing enterprise-level appliances already have 1GbE fiber ports, the addition of 10GbE port UTM appliances to this range will offer network security to enterprises over 10GbE fiber connectivity.”
With these 1GbE and 10GbE fiber ports, Cyberoam gives an opportunity to its partners by including organizations having 1GbE and 10GbE fiber connectivity in their gambit. The appliances will be supported by Cyberoam’s comprehensive network security features, offering enterprises and SMBs the ability to gain control and visibility of their network, tackle insider threats and meet regulatory compliance needs.
In another related announcement, WatchGuard Technologies (News - Alert) launched two new UTM appliances in its SMB and branch office offerings -- WatchGuard XTM 25 and XTM 26. Despite its small form factor size and diminutive price tag (News - Alert), the WatchGuard XTM 25 and XTM 26 are ready to run the latest security features and networking technologies.
