By Raju Shanbhag
The TM-Series from Transmode (News - Alert) is a family of CWDM and DWDM carrier-class optical transport products that offer the transport of any service between 10Mb/s and 40Gb/s in multi-reach transport applications. It makes use of CWDM/DWDM technology in an innovative way for the best transport network economics and facilitates inexpensive increase of metro network capacity.
Transmode will provide its TM-Series platform to cater to the XO Communications` requirement for broader and more cost-effective functionality in its nationwide network according to the new five-year agreement. To support XO Communications` capabilities, including training, installation and ongoing technical support, Transmode will also offer a complete services package. The new deployments with XO Communications will commence immediately.
For metro/regional networks capable of having 80 channels at speeds of up to 100 Gbit/study, the TM-Series will offer XO Communications an enhanced WDM platform. Initial installations will provide XO Communications with gigabit Ethernet and 10G Ethernet connectivity including WDM muxponders and low latency transponders, the company stated in a press release.
Karl Thedéen, Transmode`s CEO, stated, “We are delighted to be announcing XO Communications as a new Transmode customer. This important agreement follows a number of good strategic wins across the globe and a fantastic 2011 with industry-leading financial results. We look forward to supporting XO Communications in their ambitions to drive down network costs and adding new service capabilities.”
