SomCable Deploys Optelian's LightGAIN System
Optelian (News - Alert), a provider of advanced multi-technology optical networking solutions, announced that its optical transport system LightGAIN is going to help SomCable’ terrestrial backbone network deliver a more cost-effective communication for Somaliland.
“After exploring various network architectures, we converged on a next-generation IP over Dense Wave Division Multiplexing optical network to carry voice and data traffic throughout Somaliland and Optelian provides exactly what we are looking for,” commented Michael Cothill, CEO at SomCable, in a statement.
Adding, “With our aggressive plans to provision a new terrestrial backbone to transport all wireless and internet traffic, SomCable needs an easy to use, reliable, and scalable solution that will allow us to start small and grow to meet our customers' needs.”
Optelian explained that LightGAIN’s advantages stem from its building-block architecture and its optical network functions and system intelligence are packaged in standard plug and play modules. The network designs of the system are tweaked in such a way that they can be easily configured for any application and the system is capable of growing and evolving seamlessly as new functional modules are introduced.
LightGAIN’s scalable, modular architecture and support for alien-wavelengths is slated to provide SomCable with ‘best of breed’ building blocks for its entire network and the easy plug and play engineering of Optelian’s optical transport solutions ideally complements SomCable’s new state-of-the art next generation network.
Optelian added that LightGAIN is capable of meeting network operator’s functional requirements, deliver the optical characteristics demanded by the application, enable simple implementation and offer the best value for requirements. LightGAIN also features a variety of mounting shelves that are available to support different applications and its connectivity kits and connector inspector tools ease installation.
