Macomnet recently announced that it has provided 64 dark fiber pairs to IXcellerate. A provisional “meet-me-room” phase and steel works has been successfully completed by IXcellerate before initiating the first phase.

IXcellerate is as Russian Alliance Member of the International Data Center Group. A 6,200-sq-m carrier-neutral data center in Moscow will be developed as part of the IXcellerate data center project.

The data center is planned to operate out of a 15,000-sq-m campus and will be developed in three key stages. By the fourth quarter of 2012, the initial stage, comprising of 1000-sq-m is expected to be up and running.

Data centers usually prefer dark fibers mainly for its scalability, affordability, management and flexibility. Nearly 400Gig of lit transport capacity can be supported by a single pair, thereby ensuring capacity for future growth. IXcellerate will provide the facility and flexibility in order to fulfill the requirements of the future by utilizing the dark fibers from Macomnet. The dark fibers will also offer enhanced dependability and performance to IXcellerate.
