Transmode's Solutions Selected by T-Mobile Austria
By Arvind Arora
With the ever increasing data usage of bandwidth across the world, telecommunication companies have been regularly upgrading their infrastructure in order to offer advanced services to their customers.
Transmode (News - Alert) is a provider of packet-optical networking solutions for allowing fixed line and mobile network operators to meet with the ever increasing demands of video and data traffic, and has announced that its optical solutions have been selected for deployment by T-Mobile (News - Alert) Austria.
The devices will enhance the capacity of the fiber network of the telecommunications company, enabling it to fulfill the rapidly growing needs of its mobile services customers.
Offering advanced capabilities to a number of services such as broadband backhaul, mobile data backhaul, video delivery services and cloud computing, the solutions by Transmode enable the development of enhanced high-speed optical networks. Leveraging the Wavelength Division Multiplexing (WDM) and packet optical transport technologies, these devices improve the overall capacity and functionality of optical metro core and metro access networks to make them highly scalable.
With the help of Intelligent WDM (iWDM) approach, Transmode provides its customers with a number of advantages, such as low latency and reduced power consumption.
According to the latest Deed of Adherence signed between both companies, T-Mobile Austria (News - Alert) will also be able to benefit from a frame agreement that had previously been signed between Transmode and Deutsche Telekom, the parent company of T-Mobile Austria.
The TG-Series WDM solution by Transomde will enable T-Mobile Austria to expand its network to offer better services across the nation. As a passive WDM solution, it will improve the telecommunication company’s capacity on its fiber network.
“We were looking for a cost efficient and flexible solution to combine 10G and STM-16 services on the same infrastructure,” commented Manfred Reiff, senior manager, Multilayer Transmission Planning at T-Mobile Austria. “We needed the new system to operate in parallel with the existing SDH network and our new IP platform. Transmode’s solution was a well proven technology in our parent company and T-Mobile Austria is happy to be deploying it as well.”
According to T-Mobile Austria, its overall traffic has almost doubled in recent years, and the mobile data cards used for ADSL substitution, smartphones and tablets have been prime factors behind the phenomenon.
“We are delighted to be announcing T-Mobile Austria as a new Transmode customer,” said Björn Andersson, vice president of Sales at Transmode. “This important contract follows the productive agreement between Transmode and Deutsche Telekom (News - Alert). We look forward to supporting T-Mobile Austria in its ambitions to improve user experience, drive down network costs and offer new service capabilities.”
In June 2012, Transmode announced it will launch its Intelligent Sync (iSync) capabilities for superior sync performance, monitoring and management.
