Altera Recognized with Huawei's 2012 Excellent Core Partner Award
By Rahul Arora
Altera (News - Alert) Corporation (ALTR) recently announced that Huawei Technologies, a global information and communications technology (ICT) solutions provider, has recognized the company with the 2012 Excellent Core Partner Award, the highest recognition Huawei (News - Alert) gives to its suppliers.
Altera has been recognized for its products and superior technical support provided to Huawei.
Altera offers FPGAs, SoC FPGAs, CPLDs and ASICs, in combination with software tools, intellectual property, embedded processors and customer support to provide high-value, programmable solutions to over 13,000 customers worldwide.
The company’s 28-nm Stratix V FPGAs deliver the industry's highest bandwidth, highest level of system integration, and ultimate flexibility with reduced cost and the lowest total power for high-end applications.
These are optimized for applications with 28.05 Gbps transceivers requiring ultra-high bandwidth and performance, such as 40G/100G/400G applications.
The company also offers Cyclone V FPGAs that provide the lowest system cost and power, along with excellent performance levels. With the solution, companies get up to 40 percent lower total power compared to the previous generation, efficient logic integration capabilities, integrated transceiver variants, and SoC FPGA variants with an ARM (News - Alert)-based hard processor system (HPS).
"Altera has a proven, long-term track record of working closely with Huawei to support their business and technical goals," said Scott Bibaud, senior vice president and general manager of Altera's communications and broadcast division. "Working with industry leaders like Huawei allows us to push the envelope of technology innovations, as is clearly demonstrated in our industry-leading 28 nm portfolio and Quartus® II development software. Customers like Huawei continue to be the driving force behind our innovations, and our mutual partnership allows both companies to be leaders our respective markets."
Recently, Altera Corporation and ARM announced that under a unique agreement, the companies have jointly developed a DS-5 embedded software development toolkit with FPGA-adaptive debug capabilities for Altera SoC devices. The ARM Development Studio 5 (DS-5(TM)) Altera Edition toolkit is designed to remove the debugging barrier between the integrated dual-core CPU subsystem and FPGA fabric in Altera SoC devices.
