Pacnet Announces 100 Gigabit Network in Asia
By Raju Shanbhag
100GB networks offer various advantages to carriers. First, they help companies to reduce internal transport expenses. Then, these networks also help carriers to fulfill the increasing demand for 100GB wave services and finally, it allows carriers to maximize their network capacity.
Recently, looking to meet the future needs throughout Asia, Pacnet (News - Alert) announced that the company is planning to install an optical mesh network equipped with 100 gigabits per second (Gbps) technology.
To facilitate this ambitious project, the company will make use of its subsea cable network EAC-C2C. When this 100 gigabits technology is fully functional, Pacnet will have the capacity to provide improved network services between its data centers.
The interconnected data centers from Pacnet provide hosting services to numerous carriers and other types of companies. These data centers also allow them spread their business inside Asia and even in other parts of the world. The company has an experienced team of engineers and project managers to oversee the smooth implementation of the data centers.
EAC-C2C is an advanced fiber optic submarine cable network and is equipped with a 36,800 km cable. The major job of EAC-C2C is to provide improved route diversity to the customers of the company.
“With the rapid intra-Asia digital content growth continuing to fuel soaring bandwidth demands in the region, this latest initiative is a significant step in strengthening our network services to handle the continued growth of Internet traffic," said Andy Lumsden, CTO of Pacnet. "We are committed to making our infrastructure more agile and efficient, providing a competitive edge for our customers in a rapidly evolving market.”
Recently, the company announced that it won the LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Green Building Rating System Gold Certification. This award was given by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC).
