Superior Essex Unveils Small Diameter 10Gain XP Unshielded Twisted Pair Cables
By Shamila Janakiraman
Superior Essex Communications LP unveiled its 10Gain XP Category 6A unshielded twisted pair (UTP) cables featuring a nominal diameter of 0.275 inches.
The company specializes in manufacturing wire and cable products and accessories used in communications, magnet wire/winding wire and energy markets. It manufactures and supplies copper and fiber optic communication wire and cable products, and accessories to telephone companies, distributors, and system integrators.
According to officials the new 10Gain XP cables are small enough to be used in higher cable densities in conduits, pathways and shelves, besides being easy to deploy. The cables feature a non-conducting isolation wrap around the core which is capable of blocking Alien Crosstalk (AXT (News - Alert)) or electromagnetic interference from adjacent cables.
Dr. Paul Neveux, Director of Premises Product Management at Superior Essex Communications LP said, “The new reduced diameter 10Gain XP CAT 6A cable provides our customers with improved space utilization in horizontal and vertical pathways, while maintaining the same great performance that our customers need to run their data center applications.”
The system displays optimum electrical performance as a permanent link with lengths as short as 10 ft. as required in case of data centers. This is advantageous as most CAT 6A cabling systems do not match permanent link electrical requirements in these short lengths.
The Superior Essex 10Gain XP CAT 6A cables are suitable for higher data rate demands and new technologies forming part of the NextLAN AXi cabling system that offers 4 dB of AXT margin over ANSI/TIA (News - Alert)-568-B.2-10 requirements, said officials.
In March 2012 Superior Essex expanded its FTTP product portfolio to include a new Fiber Distribution Hub Enclosure (FDH-288) and redesigned families of Fiber Dome Closures (FDC) and Fiber In-line Closures.
The FDH-288 exhibits convenient, cost-saving features, such as a swing-out adapter panel that allows easy access to both Central Office and Distribution connections and cable assemblies; and an SC adapter panel designed for incremental capacity growth that offers “pay-as-you-grow” savings to the service provider.
The FDH-288 also supports in-hub splicing and the use of custom, pre-connectorized cable assemblies.
