Webair (News - Alert) (News - Alert) recently announced that its NY1 data center has cleared control procedures and compliance testing as specified under the SSAE 16 – standard, developed by the Auditing Standards Board (ASB (News - Alert) (News - Alert)) of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and used for reviewing service organization control processes. The SSAE 16 Examination was carried out by an independent auditing firm BrightLine CPAs & Associates, Inc.

BrightLine CPAs & Associates, Inc, conducted comprehensive testing of control activities and effectiveness at Webair's NY1 data center. The data center was tested for physical security; operations and customer service; development and information technology organization; and risk assessment monitoring.

In a statement, John Rugolsky, operations manager, Webair, said that, "Not only are we devoted to our clients ever growing technological needs, but we are also focused on operating our data centers and facilities at the highest regulatory standards that our industry allow.”

The controls tested under the SSAE 16 are essentially used by a service organization to prevent, or identify and correct, errors or omissions pertaining to information it provides to its customers. The SSAE 16 report is a validation that the data center’s policies and procedures are robust, and that critical Internet services and data are secure. All potential and existing clients of Webair can request a copy of the report, which in turn will make it easier for them to clear their own SSAE 16 audit.

Mr. Rugolsky said that Webair “wants these results to be accessible to all of our clients to not only show them our dedication to their success, but also, our commitment to providing the security and safety that their business deserves.”

Webair’s NY1 data center is located in Garden City, NY, and has established itself as the most secure and redundant facility east of New York City, offering the lowest network latency to Europe through direct feeds to Transatlantic fiber.
