TeliaSonera Delivers 100G Services Across North America
TeliaSonera International Carrier's global network is delivering 100G services across North America by leveraging Infinera's (News - Alert) DTN-X platform. The global IP carrier has upgraded its services at 1102 Grand to a 100G core transport network, in order to address the burgeoning demand, and support international network thoroughfare as well as new local fiber initiatives throughout Kansas City. Through this upgraded network, TSIC can now deliver up to 24 Tbps of capacity into the facility. “We've been present in 1102 Grand since 2010. Its Kansas City location not only adds route diversity to TSIC's already geographically diverse fiber backbone, but creates additional market opportunity,” said Ivo Pascucci (News - Alert), regional director, Americas, TeliaSonera International Carrier. “We've had notable successes recently with broadband providers, cloud and content providers, and academic and research networks across North America.” Elaborating on its new 100G transport routes, TSIC says it is a three-way junction and thus provides added route diversity and capacity to its fiber backbone. These new routes will directly link Europe to Kansas City and provide access to Asia and South America through 1102 Grand. "With the recent surge in investments and interest in Kansas City as a broadband innovation hub, the network upgrade was a necessary next step to support the demand of increased traffic," said Hunter Newby (News - Alert), Joint Venture partner at 1102 Grand. “TSIC brings top-level Tier 1 connectivity to Kansas City. Working together with companies like TSIC is a top priority for 1102 Grand." TeliaSonera (News - Alert) International Carrier owns and operates one of the world's most extensive fiber backbones. The company was in the news last year for signing a Global IP Transit service agreement with Caucasus Online in Georgia. Edited by Braden Becker More Dark Fiber Community Stories
