Lightpath has announced that it has connected more than 6,000 locations with its fiber-optic network in the New York metropolitan area.
Lightpath provides Ethernet-based services to medium and enterprise-sized businesses. It has doubled in size over the past six years. The company’s network now spans 5,442 fiber-route miles and, just two years ago, it had fiber connections to 5,000 buildings.
Dave Pistacchio (News - Alert), president of Lightpath, says, "Lightpath is focused squarely on increasing our engagement with more customers to understand how we can help them advance with reliable, flexible and cost-effective services. An important part of serving customers the best we can is ensuring that our network goes where they need it to. Every location we light connects more businesses to cutting edge managed services, world-class data centers, partner organizations and more, all supported by speeds that clear the way to take advantage of new opportunities at every turn.”
According to CED, "Lightpath’s service also verticals include healthcare, education facilities, government organizations and media companies. In the past 18 months, the company has rolled out Conference Bundle, Managed Wi-Fi, Managed Backup, Uncompressed HD Managed Transport and Private Service, while debuting tailored services suites for health care and government."
Brian Washburn, service director, business network and IT services told CED that, "Lightpath continues to benefit from extending its expansive fiber network to office buildings in and around the greater New York City metro area. As Lightpath rounds the 6,000 lit locations milestone, the company is increasingly bringing the high-bandwidth and competitive pricing benefits of fiber to more mid-market businesses and multi-tenant buildings, including at the lower end of the market.”
With this expansion Lightpath now has more control over its service quality. It can also put fiber-based services into the hands of more mid-market businesses and multi-tenant buildings. With this expansion they are growing their product portfolio with new and improved products.
Lightpath offers converged, Internet protocol-based data, Internet, and voice solutions to businesses in New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut. Its products and services also include intelligent transport, managed services, business continuity, optical transport services, and customized solutions. Cablevision Lightpath, Inc. has a strategic partnership with Tellabs (News - Alert) Inc. The company was founded in 1991 and is based in Jericho, New York.
Just last month, Lightpath won an award from the New York State Public Service Commission for its services.
