Fujitsu, VarData Partner with Panhandle Telephone Cooperative
By Meenakshi Shankar
Fujitsu (News - Alert), a company specializing in technology and communications solutions, and VarData, a provider of telecom and networking equipment, recently partnered with Panhandle Telephone Cooperative (PTCI) a provider of high-speed video, voice, data and wireless services to customers in remote areas of the Oklahoma and Texas panhandles, to build PTCI’s communications network, enabling 100G and beyond bandwidth capability.
As per the terms of this agreement, the Fujitsu Network Communications’ (News - Alert) FLASHWAVE 7120 Micro Packet Optical Networking Platform and NETSMART 1200 Network Management System, along with VarData’s supply chain solutions will be enabling PTCI to cost-efficiently meet current and projected network performance demands of 100G and beyond.
Fujitsu’s FLASHWAVE 7120 platform features a modular, pay-as-you-grow design, which allows PTCI to incrementally add up to 160G in bandwidth and increase fiber capacity by a factor of 16x, continually keeping pace with demands on the network. Also, the platform addresses the increasing demand for multiple services, greater transport capacity, dynamic networking, and management simplicity right to the network edge. It has the capacity to consolidate Dense Wavelength-Division Multiplexing (DWDM) and Carrier Ethernet, and simplifies network management thereby lowering operational costs.
NETSMART 1200 system provides operational simplicity with industry-standard interfaces, monitoring and management tools, and support services.
As a member of Fujitsu’s Strategic Authorized Reseller Program, VarData has access to product training, certification and other valuable resources allow it to provide customers, such as PTCI, with superior service.
VarData is supporting PTCI through a unique buyback program of legacy equipment in order to efficiently meet network evolution needs and project network performance demands of 100G and beyond. PTCI has been working with VarData to source an infrastructure that would simultaneously simplify network operations while leveraging the most effective products and services.“VarData’s expertise in equipment management and supply chain services was critical to our success and assurance to have economies of scale. I highly recommend these two companies as I believe each is unsurpassed in their collective offerings,” Travis Clark, director of Plant Operations & Engineering for Panhandle Telephone Cooperative, said in a statement.
