GigOptix Signs New Supply Agreement
By Anuradha Shukla
A large supplier of optical communications components and subsystems has chosen GigOptix as its sole IC production partner.
GigOptix is a supplier of advanced semiconductor and optical communications components. The company has now become the sole long reach (LR) transimpedance amplifier (TIA (News - Alert)) supplier for one of the largest suppliers for fast growing 40 Gbps QSFP+ LR transceivers.
As a supplier of TIAs for several years, GigOptix has already shipped several batches of LR TIA devices to its channel partners. This new contact is another feather in the cap of the company that will now work towards strengthening its position in the QSFP+ niche.
“GigOptix is pleased to now become the sole independent 40 Gbps LR TIA production supplier to one of the world’s largest suppliers of optical communication components and subsystems,” said Dr. Raluca Dinu, general manager and vice president of the Optics Product Line at GigOptix, Inc.
GigOptix strives to support its partners in delivering quality systems to the market and its sustained effort has resulted in an outstanding production shipment volume, the company said. In turn, this has attracted the attention of many enterprises such as the new client.
“The success that GigOptix has seen in the LR market builds on our success in the short reach (SR) datacom market,” said Dr. Raluca Dinu. “GigOptix is becoming the leading supplier of choice to many pluggable transceiver manufacturers. We are pleased with the progress to date, and we will continue to work to grow GigOptix high speed datacom component deployments in the future.”
GigOptix was in news earlier this year when M/A-COM Technology Solutions (News - Alert) Holdings, Inc., filed suit against the company in the United States District Court for the Northern District of California for patent infringement.
