Television Viewing on the Go

Technology has made rapid strides during the last few years, and this is evident from the multitude of apps and devices available for users today. This trend has been fueled in part by the presence of high-speed Internet connection and data services offered by many service providers across the country. One such provider is Google (News - Alert), which plans to build a lightning-fast Internet network infrastructure around the country using fiber-optic communication. This service called as Google Fiber, was first launched in Kansas City, Mo., and since then, it has spread to other cities in Missouri. Soon, Google plans to expand its network to other states as well.
This ultra fast Internet and Cable television service that was introduced to the world in the fall of 2012 has helped users to enjoy Gigabit Internet and more than two hundred high-definition channels. In fact, Google Fiber has taken television viewing one notch higher with the introduction of two mobile apps – Watch ESPN (News - Alert) and Watch Disney. With these two apps, users can view their favorite programs on the ESPN and Disney channels right from their smartphones and tablets. These apps mean users will never have to miss their favorite shows even when they are traveling.
The Watch ESPN gives subscribers access to ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU, ESPN Deportes, ESPNews and ESPN Buzzer while the Watch Disney (News - Alert) app offers access to Disney Channel, Disney Junior and Disney XD. Subscribers can log into these apps using their Google Fiber username and password. Access to these apps is available only for subscribers who have a Fiber TV package. The cost of this package is $120 per month and this includes the Gigabit Internet as well.
This foray into mobile digital television has opened up a world of opportunities for service providers and for television channels. These companies can now collaborate effectively to reach out to more and more customers. As for the users, they get to gain the most because they can enjoy TV shows from anywhere. There is no need to return home at a certain time or set the DVR to record a show!
