Lightower Deploys Juniper MX Series Ethernet Services Routers
Lightower Fiber Networks, a digital fiber network and broadband service provider in the northeast United States, said that it has expanded its network with Juniper Networks’ MX Series Ethernet Services Routers.
As the company expands, it needs a platform that can reliably support multiple service types on a single platform, said Jason Campbell, senior vice president at Lightower Fiber Networks.
“The MX Series enables us to monetize our network, reducing costs while at the same time enabling us to introduce new services quickly and cost-effectively,” he said.
Campbell said that having a single network that combines the “simplicity” and “consistency” of JUNOS with the powerful MX Series performance provides the company with a big advantage.
By extending the reach of its network and upgrading legacy infrastructure with the MX Series, Lightower expects to deliver multiple types of services on a single converged infrastructure – leveraging the JUNOS software.
Lightower is integrating its network with Juniper’s MX Series, and believes that it’ll “significantly” reduce the risk of network downtime.
Using the virtualization capabilities of the MX Series, company said that it is maintaining separation between different types of services running on the same router. This is enabling convergence of network services and functionality along with maintaining the appropriate levels of administrative separation.
“Service providers such as Lightower are upgrading their infrastructure with a flexible, scalable and service-enabling Juniper solution to lay the foundation for many years of profitable growth,” said Wendy Cartee, vice president of marketing for Edge and Aggregation Business Unit at Juniper Networks (News - Alert).
He said that with MX Series Ethernet Services Routers, service providers can increase the value of their networks and ensure long-term investment protection by providing “superior efficiency, scalability and performance.”
Juniper Networks MX Series is a family of Ethernet Services Routers equipped with switching features that deliver flexibility to support advanced services and applications. The MX Series leverages JUNOS software, a single source operating system integrating routing, switching, security and network services from Juniper Networks.
