ARRIS to Tout its Broadband Access and Transport Solutions at Korean Cable Show

ARRIS, a global communications technology company specializing in the design and engineering of broadband networks, will be showcasing its broadband access and transport solutions at the Korea Cable Television Association (KCTA) Show in Daejeon, Korea, to be held June 4-7, 2009.

ARRIS has been focusing in delivering products that allow operators to offer a full range of integrated voice, video and data services to their subscribers. The company’s products include the DOCSIS 3.0 and PacketCable Qualified ARRIS C4 CMTS and DOCSIS 2.0-Certified ARRIS Touchstone (News - Alert) E-MTAs and cable modems. The ARRIS D5 Universal Edge QAM is a network device that is stated to enable simultaneous delivery of MPEG- 2TS and DVB-C based digital video content and emerging next-generation DOCSIS based IP digital multimedia content and signaling.

With the C4 CMTS, ARRIS claims to deliver DOCSIS 3.0-based functionality in both the I-CMTS & M-CMTS architectures to meet all ARRIS and DOCSIS 3.0 Solutions.

Added to this, the On Demand video solutions of ARRIS is said to help its customers to tune into a rich new revenue stream consisting of the latest digital video services, from VOD, IPTV (News - Alert) and Network PVR, to advertising and digital programming insertion.

Launched in 1993, KCTA has been focused in the development and fusion of broadcasting and telecommunication through surveys, research and development of technology.

The company will be demonstrating its C4 CMTS' DOCSIS 3.0 Upstream and Downstream Channel Bonding capabilities, which deliver data speeds in excess of 100 Mbp/s Upstream and 160 Mbp/s Downstream. ARRIS will also demo its optical access and transport solutions, featuring the CHP (Converged Head End Platform) with CORWave multi wavelength transmitters, CORView Element Management Systems, Opti Max 3100 and Opti Max 4100 1 GHz segmentable nodes.

In addition to this, the firm will present its new optical products designed for hybrid and all-dark fiber architectures, including CORWave II multi wavelength transmitters with up to 16 wavelengths and up to 65 km reach, as well as the FTTMax RFoG Optical Network Units and FTTMax E-PON Optical Line Terminals and Optical Network Units.

Apart from this, keen focus will also be on the compact C4c CMTS, the D5 Universal Edge QAM, Content on Demand and Fixed Mobile Convergence (News - Alert) solutions.
 
Todd Kessler, vice president of Product Management at ARRIS, will present "Future Broadband Trends and the Architectural Evolution of the CMTS" -- an overview of trends in broadband services over the next few years and how CMTS architecture may change to accommodate such trends.
