South Central Rural Telephone Cooperative (SCRTC), a local exchange carrier in southern Kentucky offering triple play services of voice, video, and data to its 26,000 members located in a seven county area, has reportedly chosen ADTRAN's (News - Alert) Total Access 5000 Fiber-to-the-Premises (FTTP) and Multi-Service Access Platform (MSAP) for triple-play service delivery.

ADTRAN, Inc. is a provider of next-generation networking solutions. The company’s solutions enable voice, data, video, and Internet communications across copper, fiber, and wireless network infrastructures.

The ADTRAN Total Access 5000 series and MSAP is a carrier class multi-service access and aggregation platform that is said to connect the gap between the existing and the next generation networks.

With a pure Ethernet core, the Total Access 5000 supports both legacy and emerging service interfaces over both copper and fiber. This capacity allows the solution to support even the most bandwidth intensive applications.

As per this deal, ADTRAN’s solution will allow SCRTC to deliver voice, IP Television (IPTV (News - Alert)) and high-speed data over ADSL2+, bonded ADSL2+ and GPON.

“After evaluating many access vendors, we selected the ADTRAN Total Access 5000 for its unmatched capacity and flexibility in an all-Ethernet platform. The Total Access 5000 allows us to offer a multiplay solution that includes HD content to meet evolving consumer needs,” said Dave Davis, operations manager, SCRTC.

“This solution will allow both business and residential customers to benefit from increased bandwidth and reliability, while at the same time providing us with the ability to expand our service offering in the future,” said Davis.

“We are pleased to be the triple-play vendor of choice for SCRTC,” said P. Steven Locke, vice president of sales, service providers, ADTRAN Carrier Networks Division.

“Service providers need the flexibility to deploy a full range of high-bandwidth services over their existing copper infrastructure as well as new FTTP builds. We are extremely pleased that we can help service providers such as SCRTC become more competitive by building flexible, efficient Ethernet networks,” said Locke.

SCRTC's network migration includes Central Offices as well as remote cabinets, all capable of advanced service delivery over copper and Fiber-to-the-Home (FTTH).
