ARRIS Demos the ARRIS DOCSIS Control Interface for FTTMax
ARRIS Group, Inc. has reportedly launched its new DOCSIS Control Interface for subscriber service provisioning and system management on Ethernet Passive Optical Network, or “EPON,” networks.
The Data Over Cable Service Interface Specification, or “DOCSIS,” Control Interface, coupled with ARRIS's FTTMax EPON OLT and ONU equipment, allows cable operators to smoothly deploy symmetrical EPON for business services. Cable operators do not need separate back office functions as their existing DOCSIS provisioning system is sufficient for the purpose.
Through the demo, ARRIS will display the interoperability of the ARRIS DOCSIS Control Interface, with Incognito Software's Broadband Command Center, a leading solution in the DOCSIS device provisioning space. The ARRIS DOCSIS Control Interface is also equipped with middleware from Teknovus, a leading provider of EPON chips for the FTTx market.
ARRIS Access & Transport VP and GM Peter Wolff said that, with the successful integration of our DOCSIS Control Interface with the Broadband Command Center for EPON deployment, the company’s able to successfully provision EPON devices in our cost-effective Converged Head-end Platform.
“This new functionality will enable cable operators to efficiently serve their customers through an FTTMax Gigabit EPON network,” Wolff said.
“Interoperability is an important issue for our customers, many of whom are working with DOCSIS technologies but need to run other services over fiber,” Stephane Bourque, president and CEO of Incognito Software, said.
“This demonstration shows that we are able to connect EPON solutions from multiple vendors using existing equipment and software,” Bourque said. “All of the solutions used in the demonstration are readily available today on the open market.”
ARRIS equips broadband operators with the technology for delivering reliable telephony, demand driven video, next-generation advertising and high-speed data services. The company has R&D centers in Atlanta, Chicago, Beaverton, Wallingford, Cork, Ireland and Shenzhen, China. The company’s support and sales exist throughout the world.
Earlier this year, ARRIS showcased, its DOCSIS broadband products – including voice and data services, Video On Demand, Addressable Advertising, and Access and Transport solutions – at an event in Germany.
