Mintera Corporation, a provider of high performance optical transport systems solutions, recently announced that they had breached a significant milestone. Their live 40 Gbps traffic is now being transported by a commercial U.S. network that has been built using technology from Fujitsu (News - Alert) and incorporating Mintera’s latest MI 4000XM Adaptive DPSK module. Fujitsu lends its FLASHWAVE 7500 Reconfigurable Optical Add/Drop Multiplexer (ROADM (News - Alert)) technology to the network.

In a release, Terry Unter, the CEO and president of Mintera, commented on the company’s partnership with Fujitsu. He said, “Mintera’s close and fruitful collaboration with Fujitsu has resulted in achievement of this key milestone. Mintera is committed to provide the highest level of service and support to customers such as Fujitsu and to continue to deliver best-in-class solutions.”

The patent pending Adaptive DPSK technology that is embedded in the MI 4000XM DWDM module allows 40 Gbps traffic to be delivers across a 50GHz channel spaced system. It also allows better transmission across an active ROADM network without affecting important parameters like ULH reach. The unit adheres to relevant industry standards and also combines an electrical Mux/Demux which further ensures compatibility with any 40 Gbps framer. The module incorporates a 300 pin MSA connector which is compatible with suitable 12C commands; this facilitates easier hardware and software integration.

Niall Robinson, vice president of product marketing at Mintera further extolled the achievements made by the company this year, “2009 has been an outstanding year for the company including: achievement of full GR-468 qualification in February, a transition to volume production with over 2,500 units now shipped and becoming ISO 9001:2008 certified in August.”

Mintera is a high bit rate optical transport systems solutions provider that allows migration to 40 and 100 Gbps in metro core, regional, long haul and ultra long haul networks. Mintera provides dynamic solutions in multiple service segments that allow service providers to improve their current infrastructure in a disciplined and smooth manner. It is currently working on evolving a higher bit-rate solution with several research and development labs at network operators, systems suppliers, component manufacturers, research institutes and universities which will help to improve optimization of transmission costs.
