Procera Networks (News - Alert), Inc., an intelligent policy enforcement company, has received an initial order for its PacketLogic 8920s from a large, US-based Incumbent Local Exchange Carrier (ILEC). Procera was awarded the order for its system support in subscriber aware traffic analysis and reporting across the broadband network, as well as for their ability to build up fine grained subscriber usage profile in quick time for many active subscribers.

In a statement, David Ahee, vice president of sales Americas at Procera, said, “In an ever-changing broadband usage environment, it is critical for service providers to understand how consumer behaviors are evolving. ILEC customers are staying online longer and their usage patterns are increasingly diverse, making network planning more challenging. Current engineering models used by network operators to forecast capacity growth will quickly become obsolete, negatively impacting the subscriber's Quality of Experience, which can lead to an increase in churn. Understanding these trends in real-time gives service providers a leg up on the competition.”

Procera Networks, Inc gives service providers the network visibility they need to create highly accurate subscriber usage profiles as well as delivers Intelligent Policy Enforcement (IPE) solutions designed for carriers, service providers and high-end enterprises to enable proactive quality management; innovative service creation and delivery; detailed business analytics on network utilization and bandwidth consumption; and mitigate security threats.

This software is provided as part of the PacketLogic Intelligence Center which delivers superior performance, scalability, and functionality to allow personalized services for millions of subscribers as part of the 3GPP Policy.

Procera Networks, Inc was recently in news when it received a $2 million follow-on order from a fixed-line operator in Eastern Europe. The operator is using PacketLogic Intelligent Policy Enforcement, or IPE, systems to monitor network traffic on its peering uplinks operating at 10s of Gbps in its network, enabling substantial CapEx savings by identifying unauthorized network usage.
