Juniper Networks Touts Adaptive Threat Management Products
By Michael Dinan TMCnet Editor Addressing a threat that experts say is growing in this slower economy, a Sunnyvale, California-based networking company announced today that it’s launching an open solution for real-time threat defense.
Officials at Juniper Networks, Inc. say their so-called “Adaptive Threat Management” solutions rely on network-wide visibility and control at scale to reduce risk and boost productivity.
According to Jeff Wilson of Infonetics Research, implementation of IT security today requires intelligent solutions that can coordinate across multiple devices, correlate threats from the edge to the core and adapt in real-time.
“Juniper’s Adaptive Threat Management solutions provide a combination of improved security, decreased cost of ownership, strong security administration tools and automation of common IT tasks,” Wilson said. “These solutions can help free up resources for businesses to become more agile and focus on innovation, a powerful advantage in these uncertain times.”
The solutions are based on an open security infrastructure, and – importantly, given this economy – they’re based on a “pay-as-you-grow” deployment model that can simultaneously reduce risk, lower total cost of ownership and increase productivity. The

Experts say that security is emerging as a major concern for businesses and consumers, and increasing amounts of sensitive information are delivered through IP networks.
In an interview with TMCnet, integrated application solutions provider called Radware Ltd.’s product marketing manager of security, Ron Meyran said that this recession raises the likelihood of cyber-crimes.
“As more people get laid off, they will have more time to spend on the Internet and will believe that they can get things for free – a fertile ground for scams and identity theft,” Meyran said.
We regularly report on these pages on cyber-criminals and security concerns, whether they’re Cisco Systems Inc.’s perceived threats from predators eyeing the nation’s increasingly mobile workforce, how MySpace users are avoiding spam, phishing and viruses, or the relative security of open source software.
According to Mark Bauhaus, executive vice president and general manager of service layer technologies at Juniper Networks, high-performance networks today must provide network-wide and real-time protection from increasingly sophisticated and evasive threats.
“Only Juniper offers the most adaptive and flexible solutions that provide comprehensive security with performance, unprecedented network visibility and control,” Bauhaus said.
