Report: Companies Offering Both SaaS and Premise-Based Software Are Well-PositionedBacked by new research, Bob Tarzey, research director at Quocirca, said today that there’s an ‘on-demand’ component to “just about every software product, and the Software-as-a-Service delivery model is gaining traction among midsize and large enterprises.”
“The companies best positioned to serve both the large enterprise and small and midsize business marketplaces offer both SaaS and premise-based or self-hosted software and services,” Tarzey continued, citing a report sponsored by Microsoft (News - Alert).
Among various companies, NTRglobal, a provider of SaaS with support services with NTRadmin remote administration and IT task management, offers both models to its more than 14,000 global customers.
Both the SaaS (News - Alert) and Hybrid Models are continuously selected by Large and Midsize Enterprises, according to the company.
Lluis Font, chief executive officer of NTRglobal, said, “Large and midsize companies want the ability to choose on-demand capabilities that offer the utmost security, scalability and control to meet compliance regulations”. He further adds, “Our mission is to help our customers ‘manage the seemingly unmanageable’ with NTRsupport and NTRadmin to enhance productivity while reducing operational complexity and costs. We are finding that customers that initially sought on-premise are increasingly turning to a SaaS or a hybrid approach.”
Quocirca, a primary research and analysis company specializing in the business impact of information technology and communications, reported the trends in the industry by interviewing leading SaaS and on-demand providers, independent software vendors, IT vendors and managed service providers.
Some of the findings include that SaaS is mature enough to be used along most software applications, whether it is online help, automated updates or the main application engine though users feel it would be better with a desktop component.
Existing ISVs are also moving to On-demand though they face challenge in adopting new business models and coping with the changes in cash flow and expectations of stakeholders that this entails, according to the new report.
“Customers are telling us that the return on investment is so significant that they wish they had moved to NTRsupport sooner,” said Eduardo Cervantes of NTRglobal. “In the enterprise, customers appreciate the security, reliability, redundancy and scalability we deliver. However, flexibility is key, and for the organizations that want a self-hosted model, we offer that option as well.”
