Infonetics Research has recognized Actelis Networks as the market leader in the Ethernet in the First Mile (EFM) bonded copper Ethernet Access Device (EAD) category. The market leadership of Actelis (News - Alert) has been attributed to its best-in-class portfolio of EFM over bonded copper products.

In a release, Michael Howard, principal analyst and co-founder at Infonetics Research (News - Alert), said Actelis has earned the number one market share in 2008 by selling EFM bonded copper products to service providers for use in applications like business connection, DSLAM backhaul, cell site backhaul, and city traffic control. Infonetics Research is an international market research and consulting firm that serves the communications industry.

The recently released market report from Infonetics Research tracks the EFM bonded copper equipment revenue and EFM ports deployed from Actelis products and its competitors within the industry as part of the EADs category. The report titled "Carrier Ethernet Equipment, Biannual Worldwide and Regional Market Share, Size, and Forecasts" states that Actelis holds the worldwide number one revenue position with a 34 percent market share for EFM bonded copper products.

The EFM over bonded copper solutions from Actelis Networks have broadband symmetrical speeds at more than 15 Mbps per copper pair. When paired with the company's standards-based XR239 EFM Repeaters, these solutions enable the delivery of enhanced broadband services to residential and business customers located even as far as 100 Kft (30 km) from a central office or remote terminal. The products from Actelis are RoHS 6 compliant, which makes them the greenest solution for Carrier Ethernet over copper deployments. Moreover, Actelis' ML600 EADs recently became RUS listed, along with its standards-compliant ML2300 next-generation ethernet aggregation platforms and XR239 EFM Repeaters.

Commenting on the recognition, Eric Vallone, vice president of marketing at Actelis Networks stated that Actelis Networks is proud to be recognized by Infonetics Research for its market leadership and its ongoing commitment to providing superior Ethernet over bonded copper products to telecom service providers, enterprises and municipalities. Vallone noted that Actelis makes it possible for service providers to leverage Ethernet's inherent economies of scale to deliver affordable, next-generation broadband services with the help of EFM over bonded copper products that have the greatest rate, reach and reliability of any in their class. The products from Actelis create more efficient and cost-effective networks that provide greater network capacity for backhauling data from cell site towers and IP DSLAMs. In addition, the products also provide enhanced business-class broadband services and manage intelligent transportation systems.
