ADVA Optical Networking, Hatteras Networks Team Up for Complete Ethernet Access SolutionADVA Optical Networking, a global provider of telecommunications equipment, is reportedly partnering with Hatteras Networks, a provider of broadband Ethernet solutions over existing copper lines, to enhance its FSP 150 family of Ethernet access devices with the addition of Hatteras Networks’ (News - Alert) award-winning Ethernet-over-copper solutions.
The combined solution, according to company officials, delivers a fully integrated, end-to-end carrier Ethernet access solution.
Hatteras Networks’ components deliver increased broadband over existing copper facilities, providing an ideal last-mile transport solution, said company officials.
The solution enables carriers to fully leverage their existing copper infrastructure and deliver transparent metro Ethernet services to address the growing demand for high bandwidth mobile wireless backhaul transport.
Hatteras Networks’ Ethernet-over-Copper solutions are integrated with ADVA Optical Networking’s (News - Alert) FSP Network Manager. The integrated solution has been proven in global deployments.
According to Kevin Sheehan, chief executive officer of Hatteras Networks, the partnership with ADVA Optical Networking enables the company to offer a true, end-to-end carrier Ethernet access solution.
Sheehan added that ADVA Optical has strong relationships with many tier one carriers, a long and successful history and a world-renowned reputation for delivering value to these carriers.
The FSP 150 family provides devices for Ethernet demarcation, extension and aggregation to support the delivery of intelligent Ethernet services both in-region and out-of-region, said company officials. These solutions enable providers to deliver profitable and differentiated Ethernet services over a wide range of transport options.
“Our companies are working closely to deliver carrier-class solutions that better serve the needs of our customers,” added Christoph Glingener, chief technology officer for ADVA Optical Networking, in a statement.
“Hatteras Networks shares our commitment to rich operations, administration and maintenance features and extensive traffic management for service differentiation,” Glingener added. “Their Ethernet-over-copper solution is an excellent companion to our FSP 150 product line.”
Recently TMCnet reported that ADVA Optical Networking and COLT (News - Alert) Telecom, a European provider of data, voice and managed services, announced the industry’s first deployment of an 8Gbps Fiber Channel service over distance.
Featured within a customer’s Storage Area Network, the new service, built specifically upon the ADVA FSP 3000’s 8Gbps FC card, provides a point-to-point link that stretches beyond 135km, the report said.
