The 7200 Metro Services Platform has been introduced by BTI Systems (News - Alert). The service providers needs with increasing traffic growth requirements for wireless backhaul, video and Ethernet business services will be met by this metro networking solution.

Packet-based services delivery in the metro is simplified by the 7200 Metro Services Platform. Carrier Ethernet, multi-service optical, and Wavelength Division Multiplexing or WDM functions are consolidated by the Platform in a scalable, compact 7RU platform. The benchmark for 10G density for optical private line and packet aggregation to deliver high-density services critical for service providers has been set by the release of the 7200 Metro Services Platform.

In a release, Jean-Charles Fahmy, VP, Product Management, BTI Systems said, “In developing the 7200 Metro Services Platform, we have responded to our customers’ need for scalable service delivery with the highest density packet-optical system in the market. The 7200 Metro Services Platform makes it simple for service providers to add capacity and respond to the rapid growth in demand for high bandwidth applications. This continues our heritage of delivering compact, service-rich 7000 Series platforms that provide high operational returns and new revenue streams while simplifying our customers’ networks.”

The needs of the network operators for a larger solution for ring interconnect, high-capacity metro service delivery, data center interconnections and high-density cloud networking are met by the 7200 Metro Services Platform. Service providers can deliver broadband and video networking functions with the platform acting as a Middle Mile solution.

Network operations are simplified for service providers with this platform. Packet optical service delivery, WDM multiplexing and photonic-layer building blocks are consolidated in a single 7RU form factor with 20 modular slots. Service providers are also provided support up to 400 Gbps of 10G private line capacity.

In a release, Eve Griliches (News - Alert), managing partner, ACG Research said, “With the increasing demand on metro networks to deliver high-bandwidth wireless data and video traffic, there is a definite requirement for cost-effective, higher density packet-optical solutions. 10G is the new currency for metro networks. A multi-service platform like the 7200 Metro Services Platform with dense 10G, Carrier Ethernet and aggregation capabilities, gives service providers an integrated means to address growing traffic and deliver value-added services.”
