Telx Expands Ethernet Exchange Footprint to Miami, Dallas and LA
Telx, a provider of interconnection, collocation and business exchange services to the North American markets, has deployed the company’s Ethernet Exchange service at its data centers in Miami, Dallas and Los Angeles. The company’s Telx Ethernet Exchange service provides seamless, scalable, high-bandwidth, and low-latency Ethernet connectivity that eliminates cost and time barriers. Precisely, it delivers a more efficient and simplified method of interconnecting service provider networks on a one-to-many basis. The Ethernet Exchange service is able to lower the deployment costs by efficiently utilizing network assets. Powered by Cisco (News The Cisco technology leveraged by the Ethernet Exchange service includes the 6.4 TB/s capable Cisco ASR 9000 hardware platform and the modular Cisco IOS XR software operating system. Supporting high availability service level agreement (SLA) requirements for carrier-grade reliability, the Ethernet Exchange service also provides automated customer portal to establish virtual connections, and MEF compliant services. Telx offers SAS (News - Alert) 70 Type II-audited space, power and interconnection services to service providers. Many service providers have established multiple points of presence (POPs) in the company’s 15 strategically located facilities across North America. The Telx Ethernet Exchange is already available in New York, Chicago, Atlanta and San Francisco. With the deployment of Ethernet Exchange service at the data centers located in Miami, Dallas and Los Angeles, service providers, enterprises and cloud/SaaS (News At the same time, service providers will also be able to reduce the cost and complexity associated with adding new customers in geographically underserved areas, by deploying the Ethernet Exchange service. According to Telx, the addition of Ethernet Exchange service to Miami, Dallas and Los Angeles data centers, will provide customers with a seamless connection to a wide variety of international networks, carriers, media and gaming companies. Glenn Calafati, vice president and general manager of interconnection services for Telx, said in a statement, "With the addition of Miami, Dallas and Los Angeles, we can now offer customers the exponential value of interconnecting via Ethernet technology in the Telx Interconnection Center, a full suite of virtual and fiber-based connectivity solutions. Through our relationship with Neutral Tandem, Telx now offers the best nationwide coverage bolstered by Ethernet technology, enabling customers to connect advanced IP services and access content on Carrier, enterprise and media networks." In the recent news, voice and data networking company One Source (News - Alert) Networks joined the Telx Ethernet Exchange service. The service has been deployed within Telx's downtown Chicago data center. With this, One Source Networks will leverage the facility-neutral Ethernet Exchange for the fast and cost-effective exchange of data traffic between its users of Ethernet services. In November 2010, Telx launched its enhanced Web-based customer portal, which facilitates colocation, interconnection, Internet Exchange, Dedicated Internet Access and Ethernet Exchange users to manage services and view highly detailed inventories of their space, power, connectivity and bandwidth. The portal simplifies operations, improves inventory management and also provides access to an online marketplace to help fuel revenue growth.
