Interxion Expands Capacity of Copenhagen Data Center

Interxion, a European operator of carrier-neutral data centers, has decided to expand the capacity of its Copenhagen center in order to meet growing customer demand for high-power-density colocation infrastructure.

Company officials say the new 1,000 cubic meters of equipped space will be ready for customers starting May 2009 and will give access to the data center’s 10 megawatt power supply, supporting exceptionally high-density power configurations of up to 17.5 kW per cabinet.

Officials say the build-out consolidates Interxion’s position as the leading carrier-neutral data center operator in the Danish market.

“We have expanded our capacity while maintaining and improving an uncompromising focus on service quality and data centre security,” said Peder Bank, managing director for Interxion in Denmark, in a statement.

Bank said that whilst growing at approximately 50 percent year on year in Denmark, the company has also recently achieved certification for ISO 27001 information security management systems, as well as maximum ratings for IT security in an independent KPMG report.

“A major part of our growth comes from system integrators and enterprises that have chosen us for our carrier and vendor neutrality and our constant focus on customer satisfaction,” he added.

Interxion had recently announced that it has installed a Secure Data Service (SDS) managed online back-up and restore solution for Argus, a provider of price assessments, business intelligence and market data for the global coal, electricity, oil, gas, emissions and transportation industries.

Information is key to Argus’ business proposition, and as a result, the need to access, retrieve and distribute it efficiently and effectively is critical.

Interxion’s SDS ‘Vault,’ which replaces a tape back-up system, now stores all data off-site at one of Interxion’s data centers in the Netherlands. Fully encrypted software now backs up all critical files, securing the flow of timely business intelligence and market information to Argus customers.
