DataCenter.BZ has announced that that Hurricane Electric (News - Alert), a company that provides IPv6 backbone, has selected DataCenter.BZ's facility located at 555 Scherers Court, Columbus, Ohio, to establish a Point-of-Presence (PoP).

DataCenter.BZ offers carrier-neutral colocation and enterprise-grade virtual data centers. This facility is provided from a wholly-owned and purpose-built facility in Columbus, Ohio.

The company also offers completely redundant data center infrastructures, private cages and individual cabinets. These facilities are equipped with 24×7 access and a reliable power density of 500 watts per sq. ft. Along with its managed BGP IP, the company also offers diverse facility fiber feeds from 19 carriers.

With this new agreement, Hurricane Electric's worldwide Internet backbone can now peer directly with DataCenter.BZ's carriers and exchange IP traffic. With the help of 10GE (10 gigabit Ethernet), GigE (1 gigabit Ethernet) and 100BaseT network connections, the new PoP will improve access to Internet and IPv6 systems and services. The company will also get other benefits such as enhanced fault tolerance and other types of features with the new PoP, the company stated.

“We are pleased that Hurricane Electric has chosen to leverage DataCenter.BZ in the expansion of its global IPv6 backbone in Ohio and we are excited about the benefits our customers will enjoy," said Gordon Scherer, president of DataCenter.BZ. "We look forward to offering our customers access to Hurricane Electric's vast global network.”

In 2009, the company was selected by the City of Dublin to introduce DubLink's dark fiber to the DataCenter.BZ in Worthington, Ohio.
