Zayo Completes Fiber-Optic Network Build to DuPont Fabros Technology Data Center in VA
By Shamila Janakiraman
Zayo Group (News - Alert), an international bandwidth infrastructure provider, has completed its fiber-optic network layout to DuPont Fabros Technology’s ACC6 Data Center located in Ashburn, Virginia.
This new fiber-optic network will deliver diverse dark fiber connectivity to customers either in point-to-point or ring topology between the DuPont Fabros facility and Zayo’s regional and national network.
“Connecting into DFT’s newest facility aligns with our strategy to have a dense Data Center network,” said Jim Nolte, SVP of Sales at Zayo Group. “Customers at the ACC6 Facility will have enhanced connectivity to other Data Centers, Internet Peering Locations, Carrier Hotels and Enterprise locations, among others.”
Officials said that Zayo will be offering a suite of services into DuPont Fabros Technology (DFT) ACC6 Data Center, comprising Ethernet, IP, wavelengths and dark fiber, while delivering services to major Internet exchange points in Ashburn, VA.
Zayo launched this fiber installation after its recent acquisition of FiberGate. This enhanced Zayo’s connectivity capabilities to cover all of DFT’s data centers.
Zayo has successfully connected over 10,000 buildings across the U.S. and Europe through net connectivity from its data centers, and has 136,000 square feet of colocation space. This includes 500 data centers, 500 Points-of-Presence (POP) and 2,600+ cell towers.
A provider of fiber-based bandwidth infrastructure and network-neutral colocation and interconnection services, Zayo serves wireline and wireless carriers, data centers, Internet content and services companies, enterprises and government agencies.
Vinay Nagpal, director of Carrier Relations, DuPont Fabros Technology, remarked, “Zayo’s fiber-optic network provides specialized dark fiber solutions to our existing and new customers within ACC6. This builds on our goal to enhance fiber density for our customers and expands our relationship with Zayo, which currently provides connectivity to our ten operating Data Centers in the U.S.”
DFT manages large multi-tenanted wholesale data centers which ensure carrier-neutral and safe computing environments to DFT customers who outsource their mission-critical applications.
Recently, Zayo Group entered into a definitive agreement to acquire First Telecom Services, LLC, a provider of bandwidth infrastructure services, for $110 million.
Both the companies are based in the U.S.
