Lightower Named Authorized Vendor for NJ Data Communications Network Services
By Meenakshi Shankar
Lightower Fiber Networks, the company which has nearly 20 years of experience in providing fiber-based networking solutions, has been delivering network services to more than 7,500 service locations with more than 20,000 route miles serving the needs of enterprise, government, carrier, and data center customers throughout the Northeast, Mid-Atlantic, and Chicago Metro areas, with connectivity to London and Toronto.
In a recent announcement, the company confirmed that it has been chosen as the authorized vendor to the New Jersey state government through the statewide New Jersey Data Communications Network Services contract.
Lightower has a long history of successfully serving government, higher education and research customers throughout the Northeast. The current award enables Lightower to offer Ethernet, SONET and wavelength fiber networking solutions to New Jersey state and quasi-state agencies, education-based institutions and local government entities.
Lightower’s Ethernet services combine the reliability and ubiquity of Carrier Ethernet with next-generation metro area transport technology. It delivers a fully restorable managed network that’s ready for any vertical or application requirement. Business Ethernet solutions include MetroE Advanced Private Line, E-Line, Ethernet Virtual Private Line (EVPL), and Ethernet Private LAN (E-LAN).
Lightower’s SONET Service enables customers to connect multiple locations with a dedicated, protected, high-speed service.
From service providers to universities the growth of bandwidth-intensive applications is driving a real and intense need for optical wavelength services to accommodate them. Lightower’s optical Wavelength Service relieves capacity constraints and opens the door to high performance networks that improve application performance.
In addition to New Jersey, Lightower currently holds similar data communications network services contracts with the states of New York and Massachusetts.
Lightower recently expanded its fiber network in the greater Baltimore region. Also, the company announced that it plans to add more fiber capacity to its existing markets in Washington, D.C. and northern Virginia locations. Lightower completed the expansion of 400-mile all-fiber network in the Washington metro area in April.
